Frost Fails to Doom Shenandoah Valley Blueberries
Mount Crawford farmer Haley Coloso and her community kept Hobbit Hill Farm berries alive during a brutal frost. Volunteer fire pits, rotating helpers, and a drone shot helped protect berries amid limey soils and acid amendment efforts at Hobbit Hill and Hickory Hill in Keezletown. The frost may shorten seasons but both families plan to open pick your own, hopeful for a longer later harvest as climate shifts.
