Warren County sees rise in student mask exemptions
Warren County Public Schools reported a jump in COVID-19 mask exemptions after Gov. Youngkin's order made masking optional. About 23 percent of students, 1,151 total exemptions, had medical or religious grounds as of Wednesday, up from 250 before the order. Regional Jail considers 10% COLA to attract staff
The Rappahannock Shenandoah Warren Regional Jail Authority debated a 10 percent cost of living adjustment in its FY2023 budget. Funding totals 6.7 million with requests of 3.4 million from Warren, 2.9 million from Shenandoah, and 389,265 from Rappahannock, reflecting county share changes. The board noted 45 officer vacancies, 15 intentionally left open to save money, and 25 planned vacancies next year to keep local contributions flat or higher to attract hires.
