Brighter lights eyed for Shenandoah County high schools
Shenandoah County plans lighting upgrades at Central Mountain View and Strasburg high school stadiums as part of a draft five year CIP for 2024 2028. Upgrades aim to replace aging incandescent bulbs with LED systems to improve brightness and save energy with estimated total cost around 495 000 dollars for stadium lighting plus 200 000 dollars for softball field lighting. The plan notes urgent needs due to rising maintenance and expected installation in fiscal years 2023 24 through 2025 26. The School Board will decide at its January 12 meeting with final versions due February 9 and spring county funding consideration.
