Family Promise Sees Spike In Demand For Services
In Shenandoah County the Family Promise affiliate reports a sharp rise in homelessness driven by weak economy and higher living costs. From January to October 2022 it aided 64 families with HUMID deposits and assisted 1,255 children, more than double 2021. The program now leases seven apartments and seven houses, provides weekly case management, and helps families obtain employment and benefits while moving toward self sufficiency.
