Virginia data center project clears major approvals
A 650000 grant from Virginia Department of Transportation funds the Main Street Extension to access a planned data center. The EPA approved the subdivision in September and the Commonwealth Transportation Board gave final VDOT funding on December 7. Construction may not start this winter, but earthwork progress signals forward movement. When built, the center would employ about 600 people, reviving industry at the Shenandoah River site that was part of the Artex contamination and later became a Superfund site before EPA handed it to the EDA in 2014.
