Savannah Kelly, an 18 year old from Front Royal, underwent open heart surgery at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington DC. During her five day stay she met First Lady Melania Trump who visited to read The Polar Express to about 15 patients as part of a Christmas tradition.
FRONT ROYAL Warren Memorial Hospital will break ground on a new 177000 square foot campus off Leach Run Parkway, targeting a late 2020 opening as part of Valley Health’s 99.7 million project. The three story facility includes 36 inpatient rooms, 18 emergency rooms, three operating rooms, two endoscopy rooms and a cardiac cath lab. Funding is in Valley Health’s capital budget.
In Warren County Circuit Court Bailey Lincoln Powell, 18, received a 16 year term of a 40 year suspended sentence for second degree murder in the March 25 stabbing of Leah Marie Adams, 19, during an LSD fueled incident. The defendant had dated the victim and that night drove off with her before the fatal chest wounds. The crime followed a party on Cherrydale Avenue.

A local man Calum A. Turner, 27, was struck by a tractor trailer at the South Street and Commerce Avenue intersection around 6 30 p m on December 15 and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver is unnamed and cooperating with police per a Front Royal Police Department release.
A Front Royal resident Shawn Williams was arrested Friday after Warren County Sheriff's deputies executed a search warrant at Sugar Drive. Williams is charged with four counts of possession reproduction distribution solicitation. Police report part of an ongoing child pornography investigation.
