Vote moves forward on repeal of fortunetelling law
Front Royal Town Council began steps to remove section 110-17 of the town code which bans gypsies or other strolling company from pretending to tell fortunes or practicing magic art. The law carries fines and potential jail time though the town attorney says it is old and unenforced. A public hearing drew 80 citizens with 21 speakers. Mayor Carr cast the deciding vote to proceed toward repeal, with a second council vote planned for Aug. 25.
