Toray Plastics to expand Warren County plant creating 30 jobs

Toray Plastics America Inc plans a 45 million expansion of its Winchester Road facility in Warren County just north of the Inland Port to add 30 jobs. The Tokyo based Toray Industries unit makes high performance films and fibers and employs over 45,000 globally with annual sales near 19 billion. County Administrator Doug Stanley recalls the project’s early approval in 1994 and its ongoing expansion goals.

County Fire and Rescue seeks more volunteers

Paddlers and Drummers Prepare for Dragon Boat Races

The Warren County Humane Society has raised 32000 for its Waggin for Dragons boat race set on the Shenandoah River at Front Royal Golf Course Landing. Dragon Boats with 20 person capacity will race in three 200 meter heats from 9 30 a m to around 3 30 p m with an opening ceremony at 9 a m. The sport, described as the fastest growing water activity, originated in China and spread to North America in the 1970s.

Two Die in Crashes Since Friday in Warren County

Virginia State Police report two deaths from crashes within five days in Warren County. Keith Sanker, 19, of Front Royal, died in an ATV wreck on Panhandle Road near Shenandoah River Andy Guest State Park. Friday’s victim was Jack Light, 57, of Clifton, Texas, who died in a collision on Interstate 66.
