County passes 2016 budget in Warren County
The Warren Sentinel reports County supervisors approved the fiscal 2016 budget totaling 98.17 million dollars after discussions and three motions. The tax rate is 59.5 cents per 100 assessed value, up from 58 but below the proposed 61. Fifteen cents in proposed revenue was sourced from the county fund balance rather than a new rate. County Administrator Doug Stanley explained drivers behind the budget. Supervisor Tony Carter commented on tax increases and future expectations.

Front Royal to consider officer body cameras
Front Royal Police may adopt body cameras for patrol officers to improve safety for officers and citizens. The department budgets 75000 dollars to replace in car camera systems and 5000 dollars for a maintenance contract. FRPD has 11 cruisers one motorcycle and 28 patrol officers according to Capt. Local woman arrested on arson charges
Tanya Wyvonne Smoot, 45, of Front Royal, was arrested in a four event arson investigation at 339 and 341 Osage Street in Front Royal. The fires occurred on November 29, 2014 and January 25 and January 27. The Warren County Fire and Rescue Services and Front Royal Police Department led the joint inquiry, announced Wednesday by Fire Chief Richard Mabie and Police Chief Norman Shiflett.
