McDonald’s trial moved to August in fraud case

A federal judge postponed the trial of Jennifer Rae McDonald, former executive director of the Front Royal Warren County Economic Development Authority, from May 15 to August 21. The 34-count indictment includes wire and bank fraud, money laundering and aggravated identity theft. McDonald faces six weeks of jury trial in the Harrisonburg division with AUSA Rachel B. Swartz and defense counsel Erin M. Trodden.

Warren County eyes expanded tax relief for elderly and disabled

Warren County supervisors at a work session discussed possible changes to the tax relief program for elderly and disabled taxpayers. Commissioner Sherry Spurs cited peers in Winchester and Clarke Culpeper Frederick and Shenandoah counties that have raised qualifying income levels for 2023. Current Warren County relief stands at 100 percent for incomes 0 to 20000, 75 percent for higher bands, with adjustments under review.
