Excelsior Geyser Erupts After Four-Year Quiet
Visitors along Firehole basin on the 27th and 28th witnessed the Excelsior geyser erupt from Hell's Half Acre for over twenty four hours. The column reached about three hundred feet and the surrounding area shook as boiling water fed the Firehole river. The display ended with the geyser returning to quiescence, a pattern typical of its erratic behavior.
