Mrs Anthony sues Miss Jean nette Ballou for fifty thousand dollars claiming Ballou stole the love of Temple Court lawyer Mr Anthony. Ballou jailed at Ludlow Street Jail on $2,500 bail for the alleged theft. Mrs Anthony says her distress over potential loss of her husband, but notes Ballou may gain from a dead grandfather's estate if she pays the demanded price.

German election returns show light overall turnout

Complete returns from the late German elections indicate a total vote of 7,527,601 out of a population near 46 million and at least 10 million legal voters. The contest between Bismarck and his opponents drew a lighter than expected turnout, with minority parties collectively polling about 300,000 more votes than Bismarck’s forces.

Garfield Statue Unveiled in Washington by Army of the Cumberland

Fatal plow accident shocks Grand Forks farm scene

A farmer near Grand Forks died when struck by his plow while plowing. A separate fire at Mrs. Leed's farm six miles southwest of Lenox destroyed two granaries and a cattle shed, valued at about $2,000 and insured. The Dakota Supreme Court opened in Yankton with around 100 attorneys present from North Dakota and Minnesota.
