Ward County reports 3,993 registered last Thursday under the new draft law. County Auditor R. W. Kennard notes the tally narrowly misses government estimates, with detailed counts by nativity, race, and age groups, plus city ward registrations and local patriotic activity highlights.
War department confirms Tom Carroll, employed in Minot, long missing after rumors of death in France. Henry Anderson, 27, of Minot, possibly killed or captured, with no word from France yet. War officials expect definite news this week.

Sherwood North Dakota September 16 1911 Leland Dungeness sustained a broken nose and a deep cut above the left eye when a tire he was inflating at the Furlane garage exploded. The injury is painful but not expected to be serious.
Parents of Lee Ford of Lone Tree have received official war department notice confirming his death on July 21. He served in Company D and had gone to the front about a year ago, with rumors of his death circulating earlier. Former Minot druggist Raymond E. Nelson, en route home to Joplin Montana from the Twin Cities and Chicago, visited Minot and stayed with Mrs. Nelson’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Jacobson, during his business trip.
