Oscar Koupang of Stanley survived a severe lightning strike that tore apart his stove pipe and damaged the floor while his house filled with ashes. His shoes were shredded and holes burned in the floor though he lived to tell the tale.
The council awarded the city hall contract to D A Dinnie with excavation to begin today. Plumbing duties go to F McGraw & Co after bids of 1078 and 1200 from competing firms. Levies approved allocate 1160 general fund 2060 water works 1040 debt service and 3000 streets bridges.
J B Woods reports 14 000 cattle on Fort Berthold Indian reservation with 500 sold this year for good prices. 1 100 Indians across Arickaras Gros Ventres and Mandans. Boarding school with 120 pupils and three day schools. Cattle market earlier this year and generally healthy community. Also notes Dr Belgeanjens early west settler Mylene Candice and Minot’s growth with Glenburn schools opening 62 pupils and new housing near court house.
Henry Behrens a 13 year old of Norwich died after being accidentally shot by his brother during a badger hunt. He remained conscious until about twelve hours before death and the bullet near his heart could not be removed. Funeral services were held at home with Rev. Nelson. burial occurred in Norwich. The family mourns the bright boy as he is missed by his father mother and relatives. Nearby arrivals and local business notes follow including new photo galleries and real estate moves.
