McGahan Bound Over After Minot Drug Store Ruckus

L. D. McGahan register of the Minot land office faced a hearing in Judge J. J. Davis’s chamber on charges of threatening to shoot T. Fox and of assault. McGahan was bound over to keep the peace with $1000 bonds and to appear if district court sets further action. Testimony detailed a heated exchange in the Minot Drug Co and land office, with both men claiming blows and threats amid alleged drinking.

Freight Rates Lowered Boosts Northwest Groceries

Minot gains reduced freight rates on carload lots through Soo and Great Northern alignment. Gen Sherman Griffen of Minot Grocery spearheaded the move for two years with Gen Supt Jennington promising action. The cut, about fifteen percent on many goods, enables local wholesalers to quote lower prices to merchants and pass savings to customers.

Keavin Returns From Eastern Buying Trip

J Keavin of the Keavins Department store returns from a month visiting the east. He traveled from New York City to the Jamestown exposition by boat, spent two days at the fair, and found the exposition not a financial success due to extreme heat. He plans to stay longer but left after two days. He bought heavier goods than before and warns they will surprise customers with quality rivaling Chicago stores.

DIED EN ROUTE TO MINOT AND OTHER LOCAL NOTICES

Mrs Jaco Halvorson of Ryder died Wednesday morning while traveling to Minot for treatment after illness from consumption. Naomi Berg an eleven year old Mohall girl was severely bitten by a Delany family dog. Mrs Jacob Kautz of Velva died of stomach cancer after Minot hospital treatment. Mrs Tina Dietz of Mohall died in Kenmare hospital after tumor operation. A new buggy was stolen from Win Foy of Velva.

Glenburn Elevators Refuse Green Wheat

W. W. Shepard reports Glenburn elevators will not accept green or partly ripe wheat. Farmers threshing green wheat risk rejection at elevators and potential loss on the bushel, a situation echoed in other regions. Farmers are urged to inspect crops carefully and delay threshing for several weeks.

Two Graves for Kirkilie in Separate Burials

Through a sad misunderstanding two graves were dug for the remains of Felwaed Kirkilie who died of typhoid fever in this city last Thursday. His father’s home was in Loxholm and his wife Mrs. Kirkilie in Minot requested burial in Rose Hill cemetery near her. The funeral was held here Sunday morning per her wishes.

Gassmans Baby Dies In Minot Area

The two year old son of Alfred Gassman died Wednesday night of summer complaint. Funeral held at home with burial in the local cemetery. Undertaker Wengant in charge. Reverend D S Skedeng of Mohall attacked by five fox hounds. his coat tail torn. Local ad notices mention horses and an address in Minot area.
