Fred and Reinhold Grams lead the venture with eight years in town, naming their bread Faultless. Tomatoes at $1800 Per Acre Marketed in Minot

J. J. Brand, from down the river, sold 1200 pounds of tomatoes from one sixteenth of an acre in Minot Friday. He earned over $100 for the harvest, and calculations suggest an acre could yield about 11600 worth of tomatoes at this rate.

State Federation monitors wool markets and pooling progress

The North Dakota Federation reports pooled wool approaching 700000 to 800000 pounds by October 1 at Fargo with grading planned once a recognized grader is secured. Sales to commission houses bring 16 to 26 cents per pound, average about 18 cents, with better grades up to 30 cents.

Minot Schools Set to Open Monday Amid Enrollment Hopes

Agricultural College official announces the North Dakota wool pool in Fargo will accept consignments from individuals or counties with organized grower groups. Shippers bear storage and handling costs, with dues waived from county returns if already in a county group. The pool aims for about 1,000,000 pounds to grade and sell when markets rebound.

Gas in Silo and Editor Kendall's Move

Gas may form in a silo during filling and for a week after, settling as a heavier gas. A lit lantern lowered into the silo can test safety. if it goes out, entry is unsafe. Charles Kendall, longtime Granville Herald publisher, moved to St. Maries Idaho with his wife and family. his hay fever cure is noted and his send off included a chicken feast.

Sorensen Loses Hand In Ensilage Cutter Accident

Devils Lake man J A Sorensen lost his hand in an ensilage cutter on Tuesday. A Morris Salick, arrested in Minot on Tuesday for obtaining goods by false pretenses in Devils Lake, allegedly sent a 10000 draft to an eastern bank earlier in the week and cashed a 45 check at the Waverly hotel. He then offered 20 for the check and tried to open a bank account with no funds. Sheriff Elliott of Ramsey County coordinated the case.

Farmers Demand County Agent Be Returned

Farmers of Morton county appeared before the county commission on August 4 and urged retention of the county agent. After earlier moves to discontinue the program, officials reversed course and boosted funding by 1500 dollars to keep a full-time clerk in the county agent’s office. Editor Gibb of Crosby traveled to Minot to probe the $15 million campaign fund and Divide County allocations.
