SH L Myers longtime Donnybrook settler died today at his daughter Mrs Fred Veth home after two weeks with pneumonia. He born December 8 1850 in Wilkes Barre Pa and moved to Donnybrook 20 years ago operating a meat market. Survived by wife two daughters Mrs L C Eby and Mia Fred Veth and a son Farold all of this city. Burial at Rose Hill with funeral at Mrs L Eby’s Seventh Street NW.

Scobey has been chosen as the county seat of the newly formed Daniels County Montana created from parts of Sheridan and Valley counties. Reports describe a gold discovery near Scobey sparking mining interest after a French Canadian showed gold-bearing sand from a well claim about seventeen miles southwest of town.
