Pneumonia Claims Colonel DeWoode
Col. M. T. DeWoode aged 68 died at a local hospital Tuesday morning after an eight day illness from pneumonia. His wife and daughter arrived from Cedar Rapids Iowa and were at his bedside. The remains were shipped to Cedar Rapides, Minnesota. He had resided in Minot several months and was active in organization work. He helped organize the Great Northern Life Insurance Co. of Grand Forks and had made and spent fortunes. He is survived by his wife and six children.

Judge sentences Hemmeken for brutal attempt on Alma Nelson
Georges Hemmeken pleaded before Judge Leighton and was sentenced to three and a half years at hard labor for a brutal attack on Alma Nelson at the Nelson home near Minot. He used a pitchfork, beat her, stabbed her, and would have killed her if not for a corset stay diverting the fork. Nelson survived after days of danger.
