An independent representative toured the J. C. Cairncross Automatic Plow List plant revealing a busy foundry with ten workers. The firm offers brass or iron coatings and a range of castings. The Cairncross automatic plow lift is tested and praised for stone dodging and ground entry, with production planned soon.
H C H Stege of Illinois Land and Loan argues that oiling Mi streets would curb dust during winds. He notes eastern cities use a cheap oil with nominal expense, suggesting a practical method though cost remains a factor.
Consumers Power schedules citywide motor upgrades. Electricians search for compatible units and the program offers AC motors at no cost to customers with existing old motors in use.

During a Saturday show of The Isle of Spice at Jacobson's Opera House a fire near the viaduct caused embers to drift into the building. Spectators crowded toward exits while Manager Bacon opened a fire escape and actors urged calm. The performance ended early in abbreviated form.

H C H Stege of Milnefs Land and Loan Company manages crop growth over 14000 acres in this region. He supervises 43 farms, including some half sections, and holds 1200 to 1400 acres of his own. He expects a busy season ahead.
A group of eight cowboys and forty saddle horses camped on a creek west of town last Monday. They plan to drive twelve to fifteen hundred head of cattle to the Knife River country and onward to Standing Rock reservation, led by W.8 Parkin of Mendan-Gien Ullin News.

J W Mich reports concerns over Campbell dry farming results as winds scatter dust onto neighboring fields and seed exposure persists awaiting rainfall.
F S Woodiwiss of near Surrey reports extensive Russian thistle infestation spreading across fields. He harrows grain to curb the weeds and urges a law forcing weed destroyers to prevent crop damage. fellow Surrey farmer D M Shorb confirms widespread thistles and vows to continue weed control efforts.
The Burlington ball team defeated Lansford at Burlington Sunday by 18 to 3. Burlington is noted as having a strong team this year likely to challenge others. A Civic League item lists seven commandments urging cleanliness and civic duties. A fire whistle at Logan ten miles east of Minot Saturday night signaled visible flames.
A. M. Pierce reports from McKenzie County and the Yellowstone valley that farming prospects are excellent. He notes abundant soil moisture and optimistic farmers, with dry last year prompting scientific farming and home industry patronage. Wheat stands improved, snowmelt enriching the ground for a strong season.
P. W. Myers owner of the Ash Grove Poultry Farm irrigates acres along Mouse River using a pumped engine and centrifugal pump to lift water to higher land. Ditches are dug and laterals extend to all parts of the ranch as thousands are spent on improvements this season.
A car parked before a home Friday evening veered under gusty wind, turning a corner in a perfect manner and backing into R. E. Hopkins fence, causing minor damage to both fence and vehicle.
W. E Roach aged 7 years underwent an appendicitis operation last week. The procedure was highly successful and appendix issues in someone his age are uncommon.
Spring Lake Park opens its pavilion with roller skating dancing and the principal amusements for the summer season under Geo Bissell management.
H. C. Ells secretary of the Minot Commercial Club resigns effective June 1 and plans to return to Minneapolis with likely relocation to the south. He has been with the club a year and a half and is credited as a strong booster for Minot and the Northwest. His successor is not yet chosen. Ells previously served as assistant secretary of the Minneapolis club. The Minot club currently lists about 250 members.
