A lengthy Minot report details a federal and state effort to seize whiskey runners led by Barton and associates. Police exchanged gunfire near Minot as agents pursued a Cadillac convoy. arrests and warrants follow under new state laws with possible car seizure.
The report notes Minot will collect fifteen thousand dollars in delinquent taxes from the county. It also mentions a military funeral for Henry Anderson, killed in France, with his arrival in Minot May 7 and services to follow.
A Buick owned by J. J. Keavin Taxi line collided with a Cadillac on the Mi not Max road 22 miles north of Minot. The Schoonmaker driver veered into a ditch to avoid annihilation as a Cadillac sped by at 70 mph. A second Cadillac followed minutes later. A farmer earned 5 dollars towing the wrecked car from the ditch. James Scofield reports 2000 acres of wheat sown with 260 more planned to finish this week, three weeks earlier than last year.
Senior class plans a four act romantic comedy in the auditorium on May 13 titled A Rose O Plymouth Town set in Plymouth Colony. Maurice Johnson leads a committee including Lewis Lowe Wade Kruse and Alice Nelson as promoter. Cast features Miles Standish Garrett Foster Barbara Standish Miriam Peeses Rose de la Noye and others. Costumes and props from colonial era sought.
Capt Groas announces zero tolerance for drinking or accepting favors by Minot police. Officers sworn in during Saturday night transfer with Pres Smart present, endorsing Capt Gross and the new force for the city.
Judge George H Moellring in Williston ousts Lawrence Larson from the office and orders turnover to J K Jensen due to withheld receipts and county funds. Jensen aims to hold Larson personally responsible for about 4500 in checking, 1000 in fines, and 35000 in an unbonded bank, with funds placed in county banks and seed loans outstanding. A hearing at Minot will allow Larson to show cause.
Normal high school defeated H. S. 54 to 44 on the Normal field in a dual track meet. Nichols led with multiple wins including the 100 yard dash, 220 yard dash, and half mile, as Normal showcased strong performances from Haldi and Kruse. Mrs. John Renz, recently hospitalized for mastoiditis, is recovering slowly amid a new erysipelas complication.
