Tax Commissioners Meet in Minot to Discuss Assessments
North Dakota Tax Commission members F B Packard of Bismarck Geo Wallace and L Birdlett met in Minot with auditors from eight northwestern counties. They reviewed assessment methods but Gov. Hamno vetoed the bill on increased assessments, prompting only slight plan changes. Auditors plan to convene county assessors soon to pursue uniform assessments.

Narrow Escape for Grelland Farmer
M T Roach of Ryder reports a near fatal accident west of Grelland near the Wayne ranch. A farmer riding a horse plunged into a deep snow covered well after the crust broke the horse fell backward and drowned in the water. Neighbors pulled the man free and saved him. Arthur Fisher of Logansport spent days in Minot visiting his brother in law C F Truax before heading to Wash to locate.

Palace Clothing store fire causes damaged stock and minor injuries
A noon blaze at Palace Clothing store damaged clothing worth about 1400 dollars. The fire started from a waste paper box under a settee, likely from careless brushing or smoking. Proprietor Mr Bank and helpers moved burning items outside. the proprietor sustained burns to hands and facial hair while extinguishing the fire. The fire department responded and insurance was notified to cover losses.

Anton O Field Pioneer Sherwood Merchant Dies
Anton O Field aged 38 single man died at St Josephs hospital after long illness from tuberculosis and complications. He underwent two operations without success. Body taken to his old home at Joy for interment. Sister Miss Johanna Field of Joy and a married sister from St Paul accompanied the coffin. Field was a pioneer merchant of Sherwood.
