A.A. Sears and Company will open the J. M. Wilson building on North Main in about four weeks as the Orpheum. Interior remodeling includes removing partitions and raising the rear ceiling. The 400 seat venue will offer three reel pictures illustrated songs operatic numbers with Bravetyn Dare as vocalist. Shows run five cents, three times weekly with a Kimball Grand piano.

Earl Pettit, 19, of Des Lacs, crushed a world roller skating mark in Winfield Kansas by covering 200 1-2 miles in 25 hours without rest. He skated while eating on the go, replaced a broken skate with his shoe, and defeated three pro skaters in relay efforts. Pettit, formerly of Stanberry Missouri, remained fresh after a night’s rest and showed endurance for a continued run.
