Mrs. J W McCahan of Des Lacs North Dakota died Saturday morning at 6 30 after a brief paralysis illness She had slight stroke two weeks earlier and had returned home four days before death She was 69 born in Pennsylvania and married to Mr McCahan Survived by husband eight children in North and South Dakota and Montana Funeral details were announced with attendance by relatives and friends described as deeply devoted to her family and neighbors

A Navy veteran trained at the Great Lakes station he completed eight Atlantic crossings and one voyage to Mexico during and after World War I. He witnessed German submarines attacked and observed their scorched evasive maneuvers. At 22 he had toured England France and other seaports, gaining a broad view of the old world.
