March 13 Minneapolis reports a remarkable shipment of iglities carloads of potatoes from Berthold N Dakota 80 cars totaling one shipment shipped by W P Roberts and distributed through Great Northern yards to southern and central points. The potatoes originate from a recently developed North Dakota region once prairie land now praised for potato production. Mr Ryan plans 80 more cars from the same district to be sent to Illinois Indiana Ohio and Missouri.
Fragmentary draft recalls William Jennings Bryan as Premier of Cabinet and at the desk of the Secretary of State. It references his close role to the Wilson administration and touches on diplomacy and Latin American issues.
John Wallin denounces manipulation of farm prices and dividends on water stock by higher ups. He claims merciless exploitation of producers and urges farmers to join a truth seeking organization, advocating a universal standard of righteousness.
A Denver clerk reports a package nine inches square weighing seven pounds containing the ashes of Edward B. Knotts of California sent to his widow Ada Knotts of San Francisco. The package cost 18 cents postage with a ten cent insurance stamp. W A Peck, president of the Ward County Better Farming association, traveled from Velva to discuss forming a district spanning 12 to 15 townships including Velva Sawyer Voltaire and Bergen. An expert would advise farmers, and $750 was raised at a Monday meeting to cover start up costs. The Williston irrigation chief says Winston and Williams County miss irrigation opportunities with 8000 acres suitable for crops generating at least 70 dollars yearly per acre, potentially over a half million dollars if developed.
Despite bad weather a large crowd attended as the W R C of Minot presented a new flag to Company D at the Armory. Mrs Stenersen and daughters helped with entertainment while Miss Stenersen and Miss Morgan contributed readings and songs. A letter from Captain B S Person thanked the corps and pledged cooperation between the two organizations.
Clarence H. Walker of Minot North Dakota, champion trap shooter, won Southern California championship with a high run of four for a 98 of 100. CG H Parker, a recent star at the Pastime Gun Club, set a new southern California mark during the San Diego tourney. Parker, visiting San Diego this winter, previously won the North Dakota championship.
