Nine Deer Captured for Minot Parks at Willis ton

Nine deer were captured on the Missouri river island at Willis ton by Chief Game Warden McCutcheon and Assistant John Patterson. The animals were roped and placed in box cars for shipment to Minot where four will join city parks. Park officials plan three elk from Yellowstone at no city cost besides capture and transport.

Estabrook Addresses Voters at Armory Rally

Henry D Estabrook a prominent New York City lawyer spoke at the Armory before a large crowd. He avoided宣 his candidacy, ridiculed Bryan, praised Wilson, opposed Roosevelt, and supported preparedness and a strong navy. He spoke of winning North Dakota and future campaigning in New York. The event closed with a banquet by the Ward County Bar Association and remarks by John E Green. Christian Church notes follow with service details at Clifton Hall and Easter attendance goals.

Committee Favors Pelil Packing Plant Location

The committee on Equity Packing Plant location will not decide until about June 1 after visiting eleven cities. Chairman Anthony Walton of Minot says nearly $1,000 of personal funds has been spent on investigations. The group opposes multiple small plants due to high by products costs and emphasizes a larger facility. Prisoners saved two barn at Beach jail, but sheriff discovered it and they will keep receiving mail at the same old place.

Rossman Orders Retraction in Ritterath Defamation Case

Leonard Ritterath, shot by John Patterson in Ross, demands retraction from The Ward County Independent publishers Fred Truax and G D Colcord. The notice cites a 1916 issue alleging Ritterath’s ear injury and a violent confrontation, claiming the article defames him and detailing prior trouble and self defense by Patterson. Ritterath asserts the publication harmed his reputation in Minot and surrounding towns.

Retraction and Dairy Barn Plans Reported

The Independent retracts a defamatory-styled item about Ritterath and an editor shooting incident, stating the fight origin was misreported and asserting no malice.
