Herbert Franklin Dies After Motorcycle Crash
Herbert Franklin, expressman for Western Express Co, dies at 9:40 p m Wednesday after a Sunday collision on East Central avenue at Third street. He suffered a crushed leg, was treated at St Joseph's hospital, and later underwent amputation as blood poisoning set in. Mrs R N Allen, driving east on Central avenue, claims she kept to the middle of the icy street and that Franklin rode fast around the corner, with eye witnesses supporting her account. Franklin, born November 27 1896 in East Grand Forks, had recently been living in the area.

Boy Burned to Death in Farm House Fire
A seven year old son of Anamoose farmer John Dockton died when a kerosene lamp exploded while the boys were lighting it. The child ran upstairs with burning clothing as the mother could not rescue him. The other boy, nine, was badly burned but survived. the body was found charred in the ruins.
