Minot Farmer John J Anderson Dies in Disc Accident

John James Anderson a 50 year old well known farmer from Tatman township ten miles north of Minot was killed when a disc struck a rock while cutting dirt on a road project. Dragged nearly a mile as horses ran away, his head and nose were badly injured. Funeral held at Lutheran church in McKinley township with many old friends in attendance. He leaves a wife six children and several siblings.

Government Free Employment Office to Open Here

Lindley J. Patten state labor director and Thos Rich a Chicago examiner of the U S employment service visited last week to set up a free government employment office in the city. They chose a room in the Waltrim building on West Central avenue with H Go Helen in charge. The office will place men at good jobs at no charge and the government will post where help is needed to utilize labor efficiently during the war effort.

Lone Tree youths join quartermaster corps for Jefferson Barracks

About twenty Lone Tree residents accompanied three local boys who enlisted in the quartermaster corps and left Friday for Jefferson Barracks Missouri. A Thursday reception at Lone Tree church drew about 800. speakers included Rev. Mercer and J. W. Culnan. The delegation toured the city Friday in a parade to the depot.
