IKE HART OLD ENGINEER KILLED IN COLLISION
Mike Hein a well known Great Northern engineer was instantly killed near Avoca the first station east of Williston Sunday afternoon in a rear end collision between two work trains. The accident happened at a point between two steel bridges under construction. The lead train was moving slowly and a following train struck, wrecking two sand cars. Hein remained in the engine and was crushed beneath it as the trains came together. His body was recovered after digging beneath the engine and taken to Williston for shipment to Corning Iowa to be buried beside his parents. Hein was 42 and had lived in the city eleven years. He started as a fireman under George Martin and Jor Crowe and was regarded as one of the road's best engineers. He had $4500 life insurance for his sister Mrs. Anna Donahue of Corning Ja.
