Police found a large tobacco sack filled with counterfeit lead nickels and quarters in United States and Canadian money in Frank Reed’s possession after a drunken arrest. Reed used the coins at slot machines and is reportedly down about $50. attorneys say he can be prosecuted despite the coins being counterfeit on one side.

Iowa Man Hangs Self Near Berthold in Suspected Suicide
Neil Harkins of Waukon Iowa was found dead in a barn three miles southwest of Berthold on Sunday about 2 pm. He had a rope halter around his neck and appear to have died days earlier. The body was moved to Minot after being taken from McJannet's morgue in Berthold. No inquest was held. He had checked into McQueen's hotel Thursday and later appeared unstable. He was about 35 and carried a receipt for $50 for a casket in his pocket.
