William Sjodin known as Billie a clerk at Wilson's clothing store wed Lina Bursett in Judge Murray's home Monday at 10 pm. The ceremony was private and Billie celebrated by giving away cigars. The couple starts a life together in Minot with good wishes from friends.
On July 19 the Modern Woodmen of America Minot Camp No 7680 will use new regalia for the first time. Several landmates will be initiated and all Woodmen in the area are urged to attend. The camp meets every third Friday in the Odd Fellows hall over Mull Bros. store, with growing membership statewide.
During the wind storm on the night of the Fourth a seventy foot ladder was blown to the ground, smashing badly. The ladder's guy wires failed to withstand the wind, narrowly missing a high dive. Nels Saugstad travelled three days west and southwest of Minot to inspect crops, reporting uneven grain and poor farming this year.
Thorwald Ellison twenty two was shot in the right arm with a shotgun by a companion near Ryder during a Fourth of July celebration after heavy drinking. The upper arm bone was splintered and multiple shot pellets were removed. Ellison lies in county hospital. shooter Fillison remains unarrested, claimed to have acted in self defense.
Pete Bjoraa, longtime rancher near Can ada and near Prince Edward, sold to a Chicago ranching company and is visiting relatives and old friends with his wife and daughter. He notes crops look similar on both sides and recalls cold remark able weather across the line. Williston rider Austin Belvea, 17, was thrown from a horse on the Fourth, injuring his side badly.
A. W. Tracy, land man, drove to Kenmare Sunday to inspect crops. He reported some fields are weedy and sickly, but others look well and he expects an average to good crop across the area.

Alex Larron, famed horse thief escaped from Devils Lake jail and evaded capture until he was shot by Thomas Kerr, a farmer near the Turtle mountains. J C Smallwood plans a soap coffee and tea club akin to Larkin offerings. With a ten dollar purchase, customers receive a ten dollar premium free of charge. Ladies running Larkin tubs urged to consult Mr Smallwood.
Paul V. McCoy, druggist jeweler, will add twenty feet to his store within a few days to install an Edison phonographic department. He will handle a very large stock of phonographs and records.
Olaf Randall, twenty miles south of Minot, relies on a neck tube connected to his windpipe for all air after a past operation closed his natural air passages. He remains healthy and performs much work despite the unusual method.
David R. Pierce Kenmare attorney has been near death for weeks from heart trouble but is said to be steadily improving and may soon be out. This news brings relief to many friends in Minot and across the state.
After two weeks of study the county votes to base the assessment on one third of property value. Some commissioners favor full valuation but the majority supports this equalization move to align with state practices and other counties. The State Board of Equalization may adjust if necessary.
Knute Hagen closes out the feed business and enters land sales with offices in the Second National Bank building alongside T. J. Ku laas. He plans to market his own land and a large list of farms around Minot. Hagen, a Ward county resident since 1885, enjoys broad local confidence. The building he occupied was bought by confectioner M. O. Leglen for 4000, who will take possession immediately.
A Granville youth took his companion to the Minot Fourth of July celebration. After hours of walking and sightseeing the train missed its ten o'clock arrival and pulled in seven hours late. The couple grew weary and the woman waited in a hotel lobby chair while the young man vanished for hours. He was later found in a poker room with most of his cash lost. Henry Auslander has purchased Electric Bakery and now runs the only bakery in Minot, planning to add a wagon to his fleet and expand his large shop amid steady production.
Gustav Ludtke, a prosperous farmer from North Prairie, wed Mrs. Bashan, a Virginia widow with two daughters, in a ceremony performed by Judge Murray. The couple, joining the long line of 1400 marriages, plan a life on Ludtke’s large farm north of the city, where he has lived for eleven years and prospered.
