Gashmouth Jones Dies After Pugilist Fatal Wound

Ralph Jones a local pugilist known as Gashmouth due to a gash he received in Duluth died after wounds inflicted on Walter Whitehead, a well known figure here. Jones had a history of scrappy altercations including a late night fight with a musical performer. Whitehead’s death is noted in another column, with Jones’s arrest and later return to recover property.

Babe's Narrow Escape from Water Tragedy in Langdon

A nine months old babe nearly drowned when a boiler of water left on the kitchen floor tipped over. A two year old child pulled the baby from the boiler and, though unconscious, the infant was revived with recovery reported by Mr. and Mrs. Mealy of Langdon.

Two Men Charged With Donnybrook Horse Theft

Westegard alias Delaney and Ludwig were arrested Friday on charges of stealing a team, sleigh, harness, robe and related items from a Donnybrook livery stable. Delaney hired goods in Donnybrook then headed to Minot where Ludwig aided sale. values totaled around 66 dollars. Police Chief Hyland and Officer Dougherty made the arrest. Delaney has prior trouble. parents live in Kenmare.

Murder Charge In Walsh County Couple and Child

Frank Miki of Perth township Walsh county faces murder charges for the deaths of his wife and three year old son. A coroner jury verdict implicates him though doctors cite external suffocation. He claims the child fell ill on Christmas day and that both parents carried him, later finding his wife dead then sleeping with both bodies until reporting to a neighbor the next day.

Andy Jones Guilty On Thirteen Bank Fraud Counts

Fargo jurors found Andrew H. Jones guilty on thirteen counts of embezzlement abstraction and misappropriation of funds and false bank records. Judge Amidon set a $50,000 bond and scheduled a new trial motion for Monday at 10, with possible heavy sentencing up to ten years per count. The former First National Bank of Rugby cashier showed no strong emotion though nervous during the verdict.

Wagner divorce case heads to Lakota jury

Kate Wagner sues Albert Wagner for divorce for the fourth time in Nelson county district court Lakota. The case alleges nonsupport during their residence in Lakota after their Cando origins. The three day trial culminates today with expectant interest in the verdict.

Farmers Fined Though Not Intentionally Guilty

Fargo on January 6 Peter Schrag and Chris Garver pleaded guilty in federal court before Judge Charles Amidon to bringing unskilled aliens across the Canadian line to work on farms near Munich, N.Y. They were fined $3 each, paid pending the case, claiming ignorance of any statute violation while arranging labor for farm work.

Ross Property Holder Opposes Higher County Taxes

R F McAneny, a Ross citizen, visited Minot and criticized tax hikes since county division. He said taxes are higher than before and urged frugal handling until taxpayers are in better shape. Petitions seek voters on removing Bottineau county judge jurisdiction to save about a thousand dollars yearly.
