Max Man Receives Ten Years For At tempted Robbery

Walter Anderson and Joe Bartashevik must spend ten years in the state penitentiary for first degree burglary in connection with the attempted robbery of Cornelius Barnach, an aged Max farmer who reportedly hid about $15,000 in his farm residence. Anderson was found guilty Tuesday night at Mandan and Spurtashevik was found guilty last week.

Minot curlers visit Portal for three rink matches

Minot curlers toured Portal on Tuesday afternoon and returned the next morning. They won three games, tied two, and lost one. The James Smallwood rink was the only one to lose. Participants included Dr. J B Pence Charles Davy Albert Romenn Schimansky B Ken B Mi and several others.

Kiwanis Club Anniversary Celebrated in Minot Banquet

The Minor Club marked the Kiwanis International anniversary with a banquet and program last evening. Speakers included W. M. Smart, F. Lambert, Rev. D. J. Gallagher, and G. D. Colcord of the Rotary Club. Mrs. A. Carr and Mrs. Py 8. Hallman performed, while the male quartet and attendance prizes drew praise. The address covered Kiwanis growth to 636 clubs and 60,000 members, with emphasis on service, Golden Rule, citizenship, and fellowship. Carl N. Cox led as president with club cooperation promising continued Kiwanis strength in Minot.

Little Boy Returned to Mortensan Home

Antor Mortensan tells the Independent the four year old boy from last week’s paper was returned from the sheriff residence to his home. The boy was kept at the Mortensan home since two months old, later at the county farm, and sheriff efforts to place him safely ended with Mortensan returning him. The child is not deaf and dumb, though he is stubborn and refuses to talk.

Young Man Charged With Break of Operation

Richard Abrahamem of South Moe is charged in a health case alleging disregard for medical orders during scarlet fever. The Abrahams family reportedly faced health orders. the case cites failure to comply with physician guidance.
