Berg Is Named Adjutant General Of North Dakota Guard

Col A Berg of Grand Forks appointed by Gov Hanna to head the North Dakota National Guard, succeeding Col W C Treumann who retires as major general. Major Steadman reappointed military secretary. Berg long served in the guard since 1888, including Philippines service, and now leads the state militia from Grand Forks.

Businessmen's Dinner a Success at Commercial Club

The businessmen's dinner at the Commercial club rooms Tuesday drew about 100 attendees. A wood 85 cent dinner was served by the Cosy cafe and cigars were passed at the end. President Dun nell presided as topics were discussed, with plans for another dinner a week hence. Wm. Hamilton, suffering barber's itch and lacking funds, stayed at the county farm and was sent to Grand Forks for friends.

Union National Annual Meeting Declares Strong Bank

Berthold farmer found dead in bed

Henry Kanzler, 45, a Berthold area farmer, was found dead at his home eight miles south of Berthold. A letter to his mother in Park Rapids suggested financial distress and a possible suicide by poison. The body lay by a table with arms folded as if asleep, leaving the exact cause of death undetermined.

The Minot Hide and Fur Co under A Baker reports success after purchasing the old building on Fast First St from Mrs Grace Sanborn. He has built a cement block 21 by 52 feet with full basement and bought adjoining lots facing Belyea avenue. Baker’s investments total about 9000 dollars. Minot Plans Big Mid Winter Fair Week Of February Eighteen

Minot to host a grand mid winter agricultural fair in the Armory during the week of February 18. Speakers from the Moon River Loop Farmers association will headline along with exhibits in grain vegetables fruits and dairy. Prizes and cash awards will attract stock poultry and kennel shows with educational displays and expert talks by agrarian specialists.

Government plans Minot federal building march start

Final dividend paid by Minot bank receivership

B J Elstad of Rugby and Geo W Swords, receiver of the defunct Minot National Bank, were at Second National Bank on Monday and Wednesday to pay the final dividend of ten percent plus twelve percent to named depositors. Some checks date from years ago and total about two thousand dollars, likely to be turned over to the government. Swords remains in Billings, Mont., winding down affairs. creditors are promised full repayment.
