Golden Rule store manager Clapp left for Suit Take city Utah to attend the annual meeting of stockholders and managers of the Golden Rule chain. J Cenney Co, Utah corp owner of 126 stores, plans many new openings next year. He will also visit St Louis and New York to purchase stock for the coming year and will be away about 30 days.

Minot firm plans large two story brick block on East Central

D W Bowker of the Wallace Bowker Coal Co hires architect Geo T Bugenhagen to design a two story 50 by 80 foot brick block with basement on East Central Avenue and Third Street S E. The $12 006 project includes two stores on the main floor and eight second floor suites for eight families. Completion set for August 1 with incinerator and tiled basement.

Musicians of City to Stage Benefit Ball at Armory

At the Minot Local of the American Federation of Musicians monthly meeting a benefit ball was approved for Friday evening January 26 at the Armory. Proceeds go to a sick benefit fund to aid distressed members with medical bills and care. The 84 member local plans hires a 30 to 40 piece orchestra, likely the largest in Minot or the state, with all services donated. Tickets will be printed soon and sold to capacity.

Thirty Foot Addition Planned by The North American Creamery Co

The North American Creamery Co plans to tear down the one story eastern structure near its new block on Central Avenue and extend the building 30 feet. The total cost is estimated at about 20000 dollars.

Second National Bank reelects board and officers

The Second National Bank of Ward county reelects directors R E Barron F W Roach Hi M Byurom A D McGannel J Fauchart Sames Johnson and A A Robinson. Officers reelected include President K E Barron and Vice President P W Roach E Byorum E Tooley. The bank reports a ten percent dividend and increases surplus while assets exceed two million dollars. An apparent stray report notes a church presentation to John Strommen with a gold watch and knife for faithful service.

Farm laborer killed by coal chunk on railway yard

Christ Larson, 52, a farmer employed by Great Northern, was struck by a coal chunk from tender No 3 and died en route to hospital. Witnesses said the engine obscured the moment of impact. Larson, formerly of Little Falls Minnesota, left a wife and six children. The coroner ruled the blast of coal caused the fatal head wound. efforts for a settlement with the widow were not yet concluded.

Town Debates Incorporation At Saturday Meeting

Residents of Polodsky Surrey discuss incorporating the town at a Saturday meeting in the town hall. A committee headed by J B McDown C H Aughee and Doc Wolf will study incorporation pros and cons based on similar towns. The plan promises funds from a four mile railroad route to improve streets roads and fire protection.

Local dealer for Allen cars reports strong interest in the new Allen Chise models at the New York Auto Show. The line is praised for color variety and for design, finish, and mechanical construction comparable with cars up to 1000 dollars in price.

Union National Bank Holds Annual Meeting and Directors

The Union National Bank held its annual meeting in the hunting room of a hotel on Tuesday afternoon. Following the meeting the board reelected officers and directors, including 8. Person, John Ehr, Geo. Be, Me Chare, AN Ellison, C.H. Zehringer, Fred K. Jowett, and Anirew Balerad. New officers and the bank’s leadership changes were noted, with Pred K. Jewert replacing Chay. Graham as a director.

White Way Contract Awarded in Eastwood Park

The Ropald Flortric Co of this city won the contract for work on the Great White Way system in East Central Avenue and Eastwood Park. The project begins April 1, 1917, and should be completed by June. The bid was 7500 with plans for 97 one light posts in Bushyond Park and ten one light posts plus 14 three light posts on East Central Avenue. East Wood Park is noted as a premier residential area, previously paved last summer.
