Merchants in Minot plan extensive inducements for farmers attending the three day Farmers Institute January 25 26 27. Local merchants will offer articles at or below cost to attract attendees and showcase Northwest farming methods. Prizes worth several hundred dollars will reward top seeds grains vegetables and other farm products while housewives receive attention for baked goods and dairy products. Committees are in place and prize lists will appear next week.
Harold Nelson Company draws crowded houses in Minot with Hamlet on Friday. Saturday offers David Garrick matinée and Paul Kauvar in the evening. Critics praise Nelson as a great Hamlet and the troupe’s elaborate production earns praise at Jacobson's this week.
A Burlington social event at the palatial home of James Johnson honored Miss Wells from Lisbon. About forty Burlington youths arrived Friday night for a surprise dancing evening with refreshments served.

The Davis Dinnie Jacobson case, alleging $15 000 damages from Dinnie contractor and Martin Jacobson owner, is in District Court before Judge Palda. Davis claims the post office collapse in 1902 caused illness and rheumatism. The 1908 trial ended with a defense win and a Supreme Court remand for a new trial.
The Independent notes a correction regarding the death of Little Margaret Kelley. It clarifies the child did not die after being run over by her father’s vehicle but jumped onto a passing stranger’s bicycle.

Harold Nelson, the great actor, appears at the Jacobson each night this week. He opened his engagement Tuesday evening in Prince Otto, a very pretty German play. Nelson is the best tragedian who has ever visited Minot and is making the hit of the season. He is supported by a very strong company.
Burglars broke into Geo Dahle’s Hardware in Carpio last week and looted the safe taking $100. No clues found as the sheriff was notified.
County Commissioners Black Carroll and Richardson will be tried before Judge Gose in chambers January 23 with a jury waiver. The judge threw out seventeen of twenty eight charges after hearing the case Tuesday morning. The trial is expected to last a week or more and will affect statewide interests.
