County Court fines and sentences for liquor and immorality
In County Court A number charged with selling cigarettes pleaded guilty before Murray and were fined. John Mare pleaded guilty to selling intoxicating liquor. He was sentenced a county jail for 90 days, fined S200 and 310 costs and in default of paying fine and costs must serve 10 days extra. Joe Doakes and J. W. Snyder, charged with immorality, forfeited bonds of $20 each. Fudge Murray called the calendar Wednesday morning. The case against Roy Nelson, former taxi man, charged with selling intoxicating liquor, was dismissed today. John G Webster longtime secretary of Minot Normal School died New Year’s morning at St Josephs hospital following an abdominal operation for hernia A blood clot is believed to have caused his death He was 63 and survived by his wife Carrie and several children The Normal School and Model School closed for the afternoon to honor him Funeral services were held at 2 pm at the family home conducted by Rev P N Asien with a benediction by Prof Everett The body was taken to Granks for burial Several siblings and relatives mourn his loss He previously lived in Forks Walhalla and Crockett He was well loved by students and faculty and had addressed the Assembly shortly before his illness An obituary note regards him as a capable accountant and valued teacher and community member
