The Town Criers Minstrel Show drew the largest audience yet seen in the high school auditorium for a performance during the week. The event featured local talent from the Town Crires Club, with praise for Pierse, Holbein, and many artists, and netted about $1,000 for the Minot community.
G V Newcomer, principal of Minot High since fall 1918, resigns to join C H Withers Co. He will promote Samson trucks tractors and automobiles while continuing school interests. Withers, a Northwest leader, gains a capable partner as the firm expands. Mrs Ward Newman replaces him as Minot High principal.
Mrs. E. M. Mitchell wife of a prominent Minot tailor died at her home 816 Second St. N. W Tuesday night from pneumonia arising from influenza. Her husband is seriously ill but slightly better. Funeral set for Saturday at 2:30 with requiem mass at St. Leo's Catholic Church. Remains lie in state at the Elks Home Friday afternoon for viewing. Born in Ontario fifty years ago she moved to North Dakota in 1889, later to Fargo and Minot, active in Catholic groups and social life. Survived by husband five sisters and one brother.
Tevin Cobb, renowned lecturer and writer, will appear February 21 in the high school auditorium. The event is under the auspices of the Mihot Normal Lyceum and promoted as a notable curriculum night.
Minot officials report a new census drive added 1,000 to 1,590 names to the city list Sunday afternoon, with Minot population likely between 11,800 and 11,500. The Independent notes unofficial figures had put Minot around 12,000, while the final count remains to be completed. The piece also covers Camire's return from France and marriage licenses issued in Ward, Minot, and surrounding counties.
EB Hazeltine of Pargo, representative of the Standard Oil, died in a Minot hospital Wednesday night from pneumonia developing after influenza. He was 32 and survived by his wife and children. The wife is ill with influenza in Fargo. Hazeltine fell ill while enroute to Minot a week earlier.
The North Dakota Lumberman's Association event in Minot featured a grand reception at the Grand Burk, with Max and Miss Emma among the guests. Neighbors and friends enjoyed games music and dancing as refreshments were served. Mrs Braun and family shared news of a short Town visit.
Renowned soprano Alice Nielsen will perform a recital at Minot high school auditorium on Friday evening February 18 at eight o clock with accompanist Miss Nielsen. A noted artist recognized locally and internationally, she aims to improve American music along with Lucy Gates. The event is under Minot high school auspices and tickets are sold at the Association of Commerce.
Mrs Clary Kickton wife of a Minot harbor man died at her home Sunday after a brief illness from influenza. She was born near Forest City May 26 1881 and moved to Minot twelve years ago with her husband. Survived by husband three children mother and several siblings. Funeral held at First Lutheran church with interment in Minot.
A new statewide livestock breeders group formed in Minot, North Dakota, uniting Burke, Renville, McHenry, Pierce, Wells, Divide, McLean, Mountrail, Bottineau and Ward counties with headquarters in Minot. The aim is to promote pure bred livestock, support breeders, and host shows and sales, with A J Burdick and local officials speaking at a banquet at the Waverly Cafe.
