Missionary Widow Clara Distad Plans Return to China Work

Mrs. Clara Distad widow of Dr. C. E. Distad who died of typhus in Sin Honan China in June has arrived with her two sons and will spend a year with her parents in Prescott. She expects to resume work with the Lutheran United Mission in China where she and her husband served for about three years. The couple faced looting incidents and Chinese floods. she notes unrest among soldiers and predicts famine after floods.

Liberal Party Launched in North Dakota

Bisnarek Nov 28 Formal launching of the liberal party in North Dakota occurred at a conference led by J A H Hopkins of the Committee of 48. The state committee was named with I W Deemy as chairman, Mrs G Y Boise as vice chair, and HW Calenderhead as secretary all from Bismarck. The group adopted resolutions naming the liberal party for the 1924 campaign and praised the Nonpartisan league administration while urging certain defeated officials be considered candidates for the U S Senate next year.

City Schools Music Service to Be Held in High School

On Thursday evening December 22 the City Schools Music Department presents a Christmas Music Service in the High School Auditorium at eight oclock. Admission is free with a program of old Christmas carols sung by grade and high school pupils. Special numbers include performances by the High School orchestra showcasing its prominence in school and community. An afternoon program for city schools children only is planned.

Syverson sues for fifty one thousand in Minot court

Ole Syverson farmer living eight miles northeast of Minot sues Halward A and Dr J R Peace for 51000 damages over injuries to his sixteen year old daughter Gertrude in an October 22 1921 accident. The suit cites severe bodily harm including a fractured leg, facial injuries and missing teeth.

North Dakota Veteran Released From Minnesota Insane Asylum

Edward Zahner of Cartwright North Dakota a former serviceman was released from the Rochester Minnesota insane asylum. He had been sent there after a vocational training program dispute with a Veterans Bureau physician and an employer filed a charge of insanity. The American Legion members aided his release.

The Minot Association of Commerce reports a debtless balance after a postwar banquet attended by about 150. President Carl Danielson highlighted savings plans, dues at eight dollars, and the club's solid support for leadership. Directors praised the work and a musical program followed.

The case of the astute versus Kirkland and Brady went to the district court and a jury is now deliberating. They face charges of maintaining a gambling nuisance at Haskell's Second Hand Store.
