Cat Named Emma Captures Hearts and Heroism in Asheville
A historic Asheville incident recalls Emma the famed feline who aided a clerk named Alexander during a 1901 bank robbery. The cat leaped at one robber, allowing Alexander to seize a revolver and fend off the bandits. Emma died after being struck by a train, prompting a town funeral. Also noted: the capitol park tulip bed project, featuring 4,000 red tulips laid out by Superintendent Rambo.
