Good Horses Arriving For Minot Races This July
A flood of travelers bring fast horses to Minot south of town for the Minot Racing Association meets. Dan Alleman from Williston arrives with a half dozen horses including Early Bart and Billy Prunes while Nellie M P H is expected from Lilly of Maxbass with Milo and other entries from Iowa and Illinois. Green pacers and trotters join from Decorah and St Paul as races run July 3 to 5 with purses totaling 4700 dollars plus specials.

Well dressed man commits suicide near Portal
A well dressed stranger hanged himself in a shack eleven miles southwest from Portal on Friday. His personal effects including about 13 dollars a suit of clothes a silver watch and other items were sent to County Treasurer Mitchell. He either was a homesteader or seeking land and traveled from Portal to the southwest country. He entered the deserted shack removed letters or any means of identification and hanged himself from the roof.

Da cotah Barber Shop Gutted by Friday Night Fire
The interior of F. Niehen hausen's Da cotah barber shop was gutted by a Friday night fire caused by a gasoline stove explosion under the heating tank. Firefighters arrived late, but one chair and all glass were destroyed. a kit of tools was stolen. The shop remained open the next day despite damage.

Des Lacs Man Killed by Stallion
Amil Schmahl a 42 year old single man was killed near Des Lacs when a stallion kicked him as he fed the animal at the end of a rope. The skull was crushed and he died four minutes later. The body was sent to Red Wood Falls Minnesota for burial. Schmahl was related to the Red Wood Falls Gazette and connected with local politics there.

Crosby Bank Robbery Report From Crosby Gain Attention
