The Blaisdell Bird Co sold the Skriveeth brick block on South Main Street to Due & Christianson. The Skriveeth studio remains but the Blaisdell Bird Co will not occupy the space now. The sale price was twelve thousand dollars.
Inspection by Capt Sims of the 6th Infantry and Gen Peake reviewed Co D with a dinner hosted by Col Scarlett and Rev Elsworth. The drill and movements were executed with speed, Capt Sims praising Capt Person. The officers foresee Co D becoming one of the finest in the First Regiment NDNG. Possible future armory sites and rifle range inspected for Williston report.
Ward and Montrail county officers in convention condemn Jud LaMoure chaired appropriation committee for killing rural school aid in committee. They protest favored institutions funding and political advancement schemes, urging action against state aid misuse.
A frame building near the G N tracks in Minot’s western city section burned early Friday. The unoccupied house had long housed a house of ill repute and the fire was likely arson to clear the area. Strong wind aided rapid flames. it was Minot’s third fire in five days.
John W Boardman arrives from Webbernville Michigan and plans a brief stay at the farm north of the city. He reports the maple sugar season is underway in Michigan and brings a sample of his own sugar. He notes no beet sugar mixed in and recalls leaving a yearling colt on the place two years ago with plans to break it for riding.
County auditor reports the transcription contract let to The North Dakota Reetigraph and Abstract Co of Washburn at 36 cents per instrument for about 20000 records totaling roughly 7000 dollars. Newspaper men of Ward and Montrail counties receive two insurance statements each under the new plan. The Ward county editorial association met at the Commercial club rooms to arrange distribution. John Clonce of Burlington visited Minot Tuesday. Mr. Clouse salvages newspapers to wrap hogs at his home, claiming papers keep jams moist and deter flies. Clouse annually butchers many hogs. A letter from Jos W Winter says he arrived at Moosejaw on his way to the Johnston lake region, noting farmers in the field and promising outlook for a good year.
Joe Williamson prepares to relocate to Moosejaw country to take up land tenancy. Ham Grow departed Moose Jaw on Tuesday with a stock car and accompanying machinery for the new residence work setup.
