Remains of Ben Brand Buried With Military Honors
The funeral of Ben Brand, Logan son of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Brand, who died in action in France May 15, 1918, drew a vast crowd in Minot. Rev. P. W. Erickson delivered a moving sermon praising American soldiers. The procession included ex‑service members, Elks, and a firing squad, with Brand laid to rest in Rose Hill Cemetery. Foxholm man not violently insane released after arrest
James Smith of Foxholm was arrested on a rare charge but declared not violently insane, then released and told to return to the state he came from. He had worked in Foxholm a month and laughed for hours, later reportedly returning there. Local authorities declined further action. Nurse Gave Blood for Patient Miss Hazel Zimmerman, a nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital, donated a transfusion to saved EB Lewarton of Froid, Mont. who suffered pernicious anemia.
