Seeding and manuring trials on Kansas farm crops

Experiments at Kausay State Farm in 1483 1414 and 185 test thick seeding subsoiling and barnyard manure on corn. Subsoiling at four inch depth offered no yield advantage and manure showed little benefit in the first year. Thick seeding raised corn yield by about 16 bushels per acre but reduced ear size and fodder quality. Professors Shelton and Kedzie discuss broader crop management and fodder value in poor and favorable years.
