Vinita backs Coffeyville and Memphis Railroad bid

A large Commercial club audience in Vinita heard J P Casey of the Coffeyville and Memphis railroad present a contract for a rail line into Vinita. The city offers 35000 cash and a right of way while a committee of attorneys drafts a formal contract for signing in a later meeting.

I Will Build State Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City

Plans are completed for a State Baptist hospital in Oklahoma City with a projected cost between 40000 and 100000 dollars. Ten timber lots donated by Miss Martha Ibbertson will provide the site, and the hospital will be named after her. The main building will measure 302100 feet with future wings planned.

L L Allen to Present Famous Sunday School Map

The Men’s Club of the Congregational church announces that Mr L L Allen of Missouri will be in Vinita tomorrow to present his map of Lawrence county and discuss effective Sunday School organization. He speaks at the church at o o’clock, with many local leaders supporting coal-field railroad prospects and urging public boosting.

Taft Skips Oklahoma Convention July 12 76 Census Takers

Secretary Taft will miss the Oklahoma Republican state convention on July 12 because he plans to spend July with family in Canada. He will visit in August to deliver speeches and asks the Republican committee to set new dates. The chautauqua features special days including Bryan La Follette Landis Pickett Arctic Japanese and Holcombe with a packed program. Governor Frantz will appoint that number.

Oklahoma to start census work in July statewide

Governor Frantz will appoint seventy five county enumerators to run a special census ordered by President Roosevelt. Enumerators name township men and serve in 17000 Oklahoma townships earning 3 to 5 dollars daily. They must be residents, nonpartisan, take oath, and protect collected data or face prosecution.

Teachers Will Be Here for Thanksgiving Week Visit

Mayor Parks returned from Tahlequah where he arranged for the Cherokee Nation association to meet at Vinita in November. He secured a reunion of teachers, and four hundred teachers are expected to assemble during Thanksgiving week.
