Fire destroys the Friedlander leather factory in Philadelphia. Thirteen workers including twelve firemen and one policeman are dead with over fifty injured. Officials fear sabotage as conditions shifted during rescue efforts.
Arrangements for the State Bar association annual gathering in Oklahoma City December 28 and 29 are nearly complete. About 300 attorneys are expected to attend. The two day program includes sessions and a banquet December 29 at the Lee Huckins hotel with Judge Frank Doster of Atchison Kansas as principal speaker. The committee overseeing the banquet promises the largest event of its kind.

Oklahoma City officials charge that the Orient Railway discriminates against Oklahoma City packing houses in favor of Fort Worth Wichita and Kansas City. The complaint cites layovers and delays hindering cattle hogs and sheep shipments and a 20 cent per hundred intrastate-o ffer from Arapahoe to Fort Worth via Chillicothe. Chairman Jack Love says hearings will set tentative rates and may force intra state readjustments to aid Oklahoma packing interests.
Washington D C Dec 22 Preparations are underway to bring an apportionment bill based on the recent census before Congress Speaker Cannon indicates no net increase in House membership may occur but Oklahoma likely gains two additional members even if the unit of representation rises to 240 000 inhabitants The plan envisions seven districts with north south lines and a political contest to preserve Oklahoma seven seats while several states face losses and Republicans may win a single north south district in the western region

Guthrie, China Dee S2 The criminal court of appeals yesterday affirmed the life sentence of BI Colbert convicted of robbery in Pittsburg county. Colbert and John Jolly and Claude Colbert were indicted for assaulting and robbing John White at Alderson January 12, 1908. White was beaten and bound in his home and a wooden stick forced into his mouth. he was found unconscious hours later. An earlier larceny appeal by Colbert was reversed due to improper sentencing instructions. Both opinions are by Judge Doyle.
Graustark delighted the Auditorium audience last night after a year away. Arthur Finn as Harry Anguish and Miss Benson as Princess Vetive earned praise for their performances while Violet Reed as Countess Dagmar charmed the crowd. The cast, songs, and costumes provided a well balanced, romantic stage presentation.
J. B. Feeney of South Wilson Street swore out a warrant for his wife after she deserted him. She returned home and drank poison but was saved by Dr. Neer.
