Tulsa ministers have begun arriving for the conference of pastors and District Stewards. Prominent speakers will deliver addresses as the session starts tonight and continues through tomorrow. Vinita residents are invited to attend, with wide interest expected from various districts.
In Norfolk Virginia on December 14, Admiral Evans announced all 13,000 sailors of the Atlantic fleet will receive shore leave for Christmas. Logistics aim to have ships, under navigation bureau guidance, reach the harbor near Spain's Trinidad by December 13. Shore leave will be divided with some men spending Christmas Eve ashore and the rest on Christmas Day to honor a long standing custom.
Loman F Parker Sr general solicitor for the Wrisco system died of heart failure this morning at his St Louis home. He was 81, famed for leading the railway legal department and guiding Southwest development. He was father to Judge Loman Parker and a frequent visitor to Vinita.
The federal government contracts with Okmulgee Wagoner and Mogkgee counties to house prisoners in Muskogee while county jails and courthouses are built, an effort expected to take two to three years. Pittsburg Hughes counties use McAlister federal jail, while Carter Marshall counties use Ardmore, and Craig Rogers counties use Vinita.
144-Dave O Conner a fireman aboard the Katy southbound flyer fell from the engine crossing a bridge north of Muskogee. He struck the bridge and water, died instantly, body recovered from a sandbar downstream. Engineer Tierny witnessed the fall and retrieved the body. Coroner declined inquest. he leaves a wife and a six year old child. Parents reside in Humboldt Missouri.
The Kansas City Star reports Oklahoma's lower house passed a bill to prohibit pumping natural gas out of the state, with expected senate approval. Officials note most gas for Kansas City area comes from southern Kansas. Oklahoma could become a future reservoir, but industry leaders doubt immediate impact and argue interstate commerce. Mayor Beardsley questions the legality and practical enforcement of such a ban.
