Indictments rise as grand jury reports in Shawnee Oklahoma
Shawnee Oklahoma August 23 Sixteen new indictments bring total to fifty seven from the Ottawatomie grand jury which adjourned for duty. Six hundred fifteen witnesses were examined and twenty seven cases dismissed for lack of evidence. J D Lydick former assistant county attorney faced an indictment for overcharging the county for election booths and was arraigned on a $2000 bond. Charles Rodman also indicted for same charge. John Rodgers and John Robertson charged with destroying eighty three ballots and substituting others. Lydick denied wrongdoing claiming Oklahoma County paid the same price for seventy five booths as Ottawatomie did for fifty.

Requisition papers to return Barclay and John Gentry to Topeka had not arrived by noon, and a habeas corpus writ bearing on the case awaits Wednesday action to stop removal to Topeka or restoring the child to Bleakley.

$25 000 Sewer Bond Package Recovered in Oklahoma
Chandler Oklahoma August 28 The $25 000 sewer bond package of the Wells Fargo company missing since August 9 between Bristow and Sapulpa was recovered at Bristow by Mayor J A McLaughlin. The bonds were found scattered by wind and returned intact except for one coupon. The finder H Wilmouth 481 Louis & San Francisco section bows east of Bristow turned them over. Wells Fargo believes the package was stolen and Sapulpa detectives will investigate.

John P Brown Dies At Atchison Home Pioneer Builder
John P. Brown, a pioneer railroad builder and one of Atchison’s wealthiest citizens, died at his Atchison home at age eighty. He helped build the Central branch of the Missouri Pacific between Atchison and Leavenworth.
