The season shows crop yields near last year but higher prices offset the drop. Government data expects corn at 2.648 billion bushels and winter wheat at 400.6 million, with spring wheat per acre at 13.9 bushels, hay abundant. Farmers’ returns may rival peak years due to prices and strong hay crop.
Shawnee Oklahoma, Aug 23. Mangled body near the Rock Island trestle two miles east of Shawnee is Paul Randell, 20, resident three miles west of town. He attempted to cross the trestle as train No. 42 neared, was carried about 1000 feet, and found in a blood soaked condition. Randell was known to be addicted to liquor.
East Frisco freight train No. 430 crashed into an open switch two miles east of Tulsa I T last night at high speed. Engineer W C Pelham escaped by jumping through the cab window with painful injuries. Eight cars were wrecked and the line was blocked seven hours. Pelham was taken to his home at Monett Missouri this afternoon.
Oklahoma City August 23 Roy J K Stafford editor of the Oklahoman was yesterday evening nominated for state senator to fill the vacancy left by the withdrawal of F McMehain in a local party meeting and vote with supporters urging swift confirmation
Lincoln Neb Aug 20 three registered mail sacks containing about a quarter million dollars were taken from a Burlington train between Denver and Oxford Nebraska Sunday night. The train left Denver with seven sacks and four remained when discovered. Detectives and post office officials are examining the case.
Oklahoma City announces that political speakers will not address crowds during Labor Day events on September 2. Parade organizers promise one of the greatest labor parades in the state's history.
G W Holt of six and three quarter miles southwest of Vinita I T testifies that Doan's Kidney Pills relieved years of kidney trouble. Okmulgee Aug 23 raids by Special Officer Wim E B Johnson destroyed 4000 bottles of unlabeled soft drinks and similar amounts in the prior days. Some owners faced bonds. a Dustin man planned a wholesale operation. Deputies Webb and Omper West accompanied Johnson during the circuit. Also notes a Shawnee visit and local ads.
New Jersey editor Seys M.T. Lynch of the Phillipeburg Daily Post reports strong, profitable endorsement for Foley's Honey and Tar cough remedy. A Kentucky patient recalls ten years in bed with kidney disease, praising Foley's as a relief, though the exact claims are unclear due to garbled text.
