Special Agent Guicn Miller and assistants began paying Eastern Cherokees at about 400 a day. By noon 140 had been paid and by 1:30 fifteen more. estimates say at least 300 will have checks by eight. Local stores report a rush as recipients plan purchases. detectives deter crooks. Mayor Rider contemplates extra police patrols to maintain order.
The report notes Wendling, a Louisville football figure, remains jailed in St. Louis with no set departure date. Mrs. Cora Muneo asserts she bore no long engagement and that Wendling admitted the affair and the single kiss occurred when he proposed.
Washington August 4 reports the government condition index for corn on August 1 at 79 percent of normal. Spring wheat is at 61 and 81.5 for other metrics. Total winter wheat yield reached 455,294,000 bushels this period.
W T Hollman, Choctaw Indian, testified before a congressional committee in McAlester that he was hired by J F McMurray to persuade Oklahoma Indians to sign land sale contracts. In Brayiuer Missouri wealthy farmer Wildlan Davis fifty nine shot and killed his brother in law's widow Mattie Odell thirty nine in a rooming house before killing himself. He leaves a widow and a son. Odell had been living with him and the couple planned to move away.
