On or about March 1 we prepare to move to a new store and for thirty days offer great bargains in clothing furs and furnishing goods to reduce stock. Black Worsted suits at old prices though there is a 20 to 25 percent advance on them.
The Vermont Watchman Company based in Montpelier Vermont announces a public notice in the Watchman and Journal. Details reference a forthcoming sale or distribution of interests and rights in Vermont with notices for local residents and stakeholders.
Town notices complain about WarcumMan Rutronta pages being larger and misprinted. The Watchman Co advertises to place orders early for printed town reports and warns that larger pages increase cost per page.
Warcumas renders attention to an advertisement in the Topeka Capital referencing Rev Charles M Sheldon's plans for editing and management. Also advertised is a patent medicine routine claiming rapid rheumatism relief and the Chamberlain Cough Remedy touted for children and whooping cough with wholesale presence in local druggists.
Grain-O is advertised as a delicious nourishing drink made from pure grain. It digests well, strengthens nerves, is not a stimulant, and is suitable for children and adolescents. Sold by grocers at about the same price as coffee.
George Wheeler, Overseer of the Poor, reports all bills paid through February 1. Net charges include warrants drawn by the mayor, farm expenses, outside-farm support, and Overseer salary for 1899. Total revenue from city, produce sales, and gross farm costs are itemized with balances carried.
County commissioners and builders hosted a Saturday tour of the new jail, with Sher if Graves W W Turpin and George McEwen in attendance. Visitors asked questions as the team explained the structure and stonework. The project total runs near 25000 dollars, including the lot but excluding proceeds from the old jail sale. Washington county now has a modern, fully detailed courthouse jail.

Thousands flocked to Montpelier for William Jennings Bryan’s Friday rally, greeted by Mayors and state Democrats. A section of the stage gave way as he began, but no one was hurt as the crowd cheered his eloquence, wit, and fiery attack on gold standards, trusts, and imperialism.
Katherine E Kane known as Kitty died after a two year illness with consumption at her Barre street home. Born in East Montpelier to the late Patrick Kane she was an expert compositor for the Argue office. She leaves a widowed mother sister Mrs J J Bergen and brother John M Kane. Funeral from St Augustine’s church Thursday at nine with Rev Father W J O Sullivan officiating. Burial in Catholic cemetery.
